As a 90% franchised company, 7-Eleven is committed to the success of our Franchisees. That’s why each new Franchisee works with a Franchise Sales Representative, or FSR, every step of the way. This month, we caught up with new Franchisee Roberto Montero. He filled us in on why he chose 7-Eleven, his relationship with his FSR and how his FSR is setting him up for success before his doors even open.
Roberto knows that 7-Eleven’s worldwide brand recognition will help him be successful as a Franchisee. His main goal is to support his family, and be able to give them options that he didn’t have growing up. He also notes that “working with 7-Eleven will allow me to provide jobs for other families,” who in turn will make a positive impact on customers. But the “big thing,” Montero says, is “the fact that 7-Eleven wants to be a part of the community and help the community itself.”
In preparation for his store’s December 22 opening, Roberto has been working closely with his FSR, Alvino Rosales. Roberto describes Alvino as a “wealth of knowledge and support” through the process, especially since Roberto is new to the c-store world. “From the start, I felt that I wasn’t alone through it,” Roberto said. The fact that they have a mutual acquaintance enhanced the trust and authenticity in their relationship.
On topics such as budgeting and scheduling, Alvino guided Roberto by asking questions, leading him to think in new ways and consider different situations. This made Roberto feel like Alvino, and 7-Eleven, were truly committed to his success.
The FSR is a vital resource to a new Franchisee during the franchising process. Once a Franchisee has applied and qualified, they are assigned an FSR who is based in their region. The Franchisee begins C.O.O.L. (College of Operations Leadership) training, an immersive six- to eight-week experience that takes place at one of 46 7-Eleven locations across the country. Throughout C.O.O.L. training and up until changeover, the FSR is there to answer questions large and small.
Roberto continues to be impressed by the level of opportunity being a 7-Eleven Franchisee offers.
